The Housatonic Railroad Companys newest locomotive, ex-MMA #22, ex-BAR #22, nee-ATSF #2722, shoves twelve empties, en route to the Minerals Technology lime plant east of the village, past Canaan Union Station, once the meeting point of the New York, New Haven & Hartford and Central New England Railroads. Canaan Union Station is currently undergoing restoration, the old platform has been mostly removed, new drainage has been added, concrete piers for a new deck have been poured and contractors are currently in the process of replacing windows. |

After a failed attempt of chasing NX-12 northbound and nearly two hours of waiting in the hot sun, we were delighted to see Housatonic Railroad Train NX-12 passing the Pittsfield (Massachusetts) Amtrak Station on the CSX Berkshire Subdivision, southbound en-route to Canaan, Connecticut, with GP35M #3600 and GP35 #3604 as power. The Engineer was also friendly enough to give us a nice wave despite the fact he looked very hot and tired. |

Soon NX-13X and its new crew will pull out of Canaan for New Millford, Connecticut with four loaded centerbeams destined for a lumber yard in New Millford. The new crew was even friendlier as I got a wave nearly every time the train passed over the Main Street crossing during their switching moves. |
